Essex branch Christmas meal

Post by guzzr8 » Fri Nov 22, 2019 12:09 am

Hello

I know it is only November but has any thought been given to having a Chistmas meal?

Yes, strangely it might be getting a bit late to book some places! Where and when do we think best?

The Shepherd at Langham always does a good spread - and they are just 10 minutes away too :D . Here's a link to the Menu.
As Chris says tho; we will need to get a wiggle on if we are going to book a table!

I could suggest a couple of places but that would only widen the choice and make the decision harder. I suggest we pick a venue and book places sooner than later or we will struggle to get space, it is December next week!

We could each go to our own local pub at the same time, have a christmas meal and share it with a facetime video conference call. :D

Shepherd at Langham sounds good to me. Our recent meet there was suitably enjoyed. I’ll try to attend wherever? Cheers to all and keep up the good work; much appreciated.

We need a date and we need numbers to book. At the moment no one is stepping forward to organise and few have committed to dine.....

Shepherd at Langham sounds good, what date? And how many. Karen and I can make some but not all weekends before Christmas, and we are running out of them

Andy, The Shepherd at Langham was the favorite place, see how booked up they are and pick a date, it will now probably have to be in the week as I would suspect that the weekends will be fully booked. There have been 10-12 folk (inc partners) on this thread and however many have responded on facebook (not sure as I don't do facebook) interested. Karen and I are definate depending on the date.

Many thanks

Andy, well done,

Please count Karen and me in, what time is the booking for as we will not finish work until 6:00 that evening and so not be able to get to The Shepherd (and dog?) until 7:00.

Many thanks Chris

Andy, I see they want a £10.00/head deposit at time of booking, I notice that you are only 10mins away so will you be sorting the deposits out? I can send you our deposits via PayPal, if you have that, or if not you could PM your bank details to me if you would prefer direct transfer. Chris

Sound like a good plan, I do have the PayPal account - It is on my andy(at)redmog.co.uk email address. I'll also collect the food choices & I can pass these on to the landlord too.

Andy,

£20.00 sent to you via PayPal, I have marked the payment as to friends or family so that you do not get charged a fee by PayPal.
Menu choices

Karen - Beetroot/Hake/Choc tart
Chris - Cheese balls/Turkey/Stilton

Many thanks

Hello

I am interested in attending with Carole, but like Chris I do not finish work until 1800 on Thursday. I then have to face the prospect of the A12 so will not be able to get from Corringham to Colchester until 2000 at the earliest

I will check out the menu just in case

hello

I am going to have to pass on the meal this year

I left work at 1800 but due to traffc did not get home until 1900. added to that the A12 is always a nightmare especially as on one of my route finder apps it said that there were closures and it took me through all the vlllages

I believe the traffic is only gong to get worse so my revised ETA is 2030 or maybe even 2100

So i think I will have to decline rather then mess everyone about

I look forward to seeing soe of you at the monthly meeting

Regards

Peter the congestion on the A12 is usually clear by 19:00, but I understand the pub is a fair way away from you. See you soon

Hi all
Sorry to say that Nicky and I cannot make the 19th as we will be in Nottingham. Hope to catch up with some at the Thatchers.
Have a great festive season if not.
