wanted t3 fuel tank

Post by Fred gassit » Fri Jan 11, 2019 10:22 pm

Hi looking for a good condition early t3 fuel tank without cover flap if anyone has one kicking about (Mines rotted out behind the badges). Might be tempted by later tank with flap if no early ones around at moment , just need to get back on the road. Colour doesnt matter as long as its not rotten. When I didnt need one there were loads about but now cant find one. There must be loads about with so many converted to cafe racers / le mans copies, Have a root through that shed. Thanks for looking. Fred

I have a tank from SP1000. I was going to use it but it has the cut out for the frame mounted ignition key which I had dispensed with.
The filler has been cut off and I have an aircraft filler (new) which was to be fitted.
The tank is primed and rubbed down ready for further coats and painting.
I also have a can of tank treatment fluid.
The filler was about £70 so £100 for the lot?
Where are you. I’m in Peterborough.

Hi thanks for reply, have now got a bid on one on fleabay so will have to see how this goes first, I think I am right in thinking all sp's have a flap over fuel cap. Is that still present now you have cut out the filler? I am in the highlands. Fred

Looks like the convert fuel tanks on eBay with the large cut out. Not good unless you have the frame mounted ignition switch.

Hi Richard, Thanks for that, unfortunately it appears to be full of filler including the tank badge mounts, It would have done as a temp but got that now. So still looking, USA seems to be full of them but the postage at around £100 is a killer Cheers Fred

Hi Don thanks for that. Contacted him and he's going to have a look what he's got. Just sorting out gear for dragon rally this weekend, so no Internet for next few days. Cheers fred

Hi All finally got a good tank, found it on eBay Italia, had to log in to the Italian version of eBay where there were a good few tanks for sale at good prices that did not show up if you searched in Italy via eBay UK. There are a lot of guzzi parts for sale on there that you cant see from eBay UK so might be worth a look for that elusive part, but be prepared to translate the Italian. Fred
