Maybe you should put "Essex" and the date in the subject at least as everyone, not just Essex folk, see this :D

Good opportunity to check out the facilities though. Will the roads still be salty?

From the state of my bike when I got home, Yes and not only salt, plenty of natures deposits as well. Great meeting and well worth the 101 mile trip from "The Borders" as Steve has eloquently named the location of my hovel. A major plus on the way home was the discovery that the Guardian Angel of Old Gits on Bikes as on duty as I noticed that the handling of my dear Little Honda was becoming more lively than usual and that this was down to a slowly deflating rear tyre. This was an entyrely self inflicted wound as at the back end of October I collected a screw in the rear tyre and should have replaced it then but as my bank account was having a panic attack I made a "temporary repair" using an Airpro sticky red string kit and it lived up to it's temporary status on the my way home today. Thankfully before things became too squirrely I was able to top it up from an airline at a BP garage and get home before it fully deflated. Obviously we all like to blame somebody else for our problems and on this occasion it's Eric, as we were admiring his Cali Evo which I was parked next to we both came to the conclusion that a replacement tyre for the Honda was necessary rather than desirable and that was enough to invoke the spirit of the Bridgesone Budda.

Good meeting, I counted 23 folk excluding any who were in the bar. Fantastic weather too. I took the scenic route there, coming over the hill to the South of the pub the view of the Blackwater estuary was spectacular. See you all net month at the Swan.
