Red Kite III SEPTEMBER 2018:SOLD OUT!

Postby Powys Paul » Fri Sep 22, 2017 12:34 pm

Red Kite 3 at the Baskerville Hall Hotel, Clyro Court(Also used by Triumph,Laverda and Suzuki owners clubs) on the Powys/Herefordshire borders from 7th-9th September 2018 IS now SOLD OUT.The roads and views alone make this a place to come to.Signs will be put up on most of the approach roads for lost and misguided souls...
The last two Red Kites were absolutely cracking and gave useful feedback of likes/dislikes and suggestions(!).This helped shape up a bucketful of ideas to try out this year...So,many thanks to all those concerned. We do indeed all make it what it is!
Camping is included in the ticket price, but, hotel shared rooms and on suite may be still available at a reasonable rates.Don't forget your cossies for swimming and the sauna....Plus, showers and new toilet block.NOT SO GOOD NEWS IS SHOWERS ARE COLD!But,showers in swimming pool are
hot!
Advance ticket is the only way in.
Arrival times via the booking in trailer from 10am onwards on Friday 7th to departure at 4pm on Sunday the 9th of September. But,if you prefer to arrive earlier, you can book tents before the event-or indeed, stay on after- for only £6.00p.p. a night.
Ticket prices remain the same as the last 2 Red Kites at £18 for Guzzi club members and £20 for invited friends.Ideally, ask your friends to join the club.Young people(Under17s)will be free this year,but,parents/guardians will need to apply for a ticket for each child via the RK3 application forms.
The weekend is coming together nicely so far and we are pleased to say there will be a new non-cover proven 'live' band on Saturday night. Then there's the prize mini motorbike races- as well as the new slow-bike racing event.(Breva Al's idea)This makes for an interesting time...Oh,mustn't forget the prize duck race and aeroplane display too!(Jasper's ideas)
This year we are doing our best to make RK3 a tad bigger,brighter,entertaining,interactive,bike-related and suitable for old,young- and the hard-to-please.
On a different note, participants at RK2 (last September) raised £100 for a local young peoples Eisteddfod/Festival (With a cup and placard stating that the Moto Guzzi Red kite event had sponsored the Year 6 folk dancing competition!)We also raised £423.00 for Air Ambulance with various lively activities over the week-end.This year we are raising money for local charity 'Dial a ride' and Air Ambulance. We have just had a confirmation that Annie from Air Ambulance will be joining us on Friday night at 7pm.Annie is going to give a visual presentation of the work that goes on within the Air Ambulance rescue service. This will be followed by a fundraising 'first night at camp' raffle,a piece of cake quiz and a DJ-as well as the poetry spots- obviously!
Saturday sees 2 very different ride-outs at 10 and 10.15am,the Red Quoit festival at 2-4pm,slow bike races,Duck racing,Mad Hatters tea party at 4pm,good quality catering at the camp site from 'Hungry Horse' from 7am-7pm and hotel special deals at breakfast and in the evening- including,by popular request, steaks! Then there's the highly competitive Welsh whisky bottle bowling competition, the legendary crappy jokes stand up,mini bkie races, the rather tidy prize Saturday night raffle and just maybe a surprise or two later on...That's all for now folks.See ya soon...
STOP PRESS :RK3 There are now no tickets left at the time of typing. No entry to non-ticket holders unless by prior arrangement.Oh,we have recently heard there will be a brand new camp toilet on site as well as showers of the non-rainy variety.
Updates/application forms, latest news re RK3 WERE provided on the Guzzi forum, facebook page,Borders and mid Wales & South Wales branch news in Gambalunga and word of mouth.
N.B.Red Kite lays somewhere between a camp/rally/festival with unlimited possibilities of being something completely different and with your presence- loads of FUN ;)
3 Cheers,
The Red Kite 3 team Pssssst...THROUGH UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANcES THERE ARE 9 TICKETS LEFT.PICK ONE UP AT SOUTH WALES BRANCH MEETING TOMORROW FROM 12.30 ONWARDS VIA jOHN THE TICKET.Last chance saloon folks!sEE YA THERE!

Long story short - I was booked into Baskerville hall for end of May 2018 but the group I was going with decided at the last minute to use somewhere else instead - non-refundable deposit, however, was able to move the dates, so I can do 7 - 8 Sept albeit I'll be slumming it in the hotel. :D

You mean there's not? I sent a full page colour ad with booking form to the editor in the first half of December. I haven't got my Jan/Feb Gambalunga yet.

Just received mine, and no there isn't.

Can't print a computer file one.

Well I could if I buy new cartridges (nearly £100 for both) for the inkjet except I hardly use it which is why they keep drying out. I'm still trying to decide if it's worth getting a laser printer, bearing in mind I've got so used to not printing stuff.

Gambalunga still hasn't reached this remote outpost in the colonies yet.

If you can't print a form out it's not the end of the world. Send me a note with the details I would need to complete a form for you. So for members - Name, address, email or phone and membership number with bike/vehicle details. If you're buying tickets for guests or children then let me know who they're coming with.

Inkjet printers that don't get used regularly always dry up. In the past I've found it cheaper to take a file on a memory stick to a print shop than to sort a difficult printer but, for this just write me a note.

There are still some tickets left and although they are pre-book, if you turn up after travelling all the way to find we've sold out I'll make a special exception for you. будет особое место

If you do decide to set out for the Red Kite send me a PM if you get the chance.

I am trying to remember what happened with my ticket, as I can't find it at the moment. I know I paid at the Clocks in March, but cant remember if I was given a ticket, or whether they would be sent out later?

Please confirm if I am on the list, and whether people should have their tickets by now?

You would have had your ticket at the time but don't worry about it. Your name's on the list with ticket 78. That's good enough.

RK3 Ticket sales update.

I have sent out ticket number 127 of the original 130. However 15 tickets from an unsold block of have now become available. This means that in all there are still 18 tickets up for grabs.

The stated closing date for ticket sales was 24 Aug 2018 but I shall be around and able to process ticket orders right up to Monday 3rd September.

There are one or two people who I've agreed can pay on the gate and about five others who have said they will be buying tickets so, if you want to come, you need to get your order in pdq.
