guzzi cafe racer for sale

Post by silo » Thu Feb 07, 2019 2:15 pm

I am seriously considering selling on my guzzi café racer. At this current moment it is at NBS having some rectification work done under their warranty. It is based on a 1994 cali frame, 1100 sport engine, lemans 5 g/box, cali forks & wire wheels, alloy tank & seat unit (possibly newton equipment) Le mans 1 swing arm. It was bought @ July 2018, and I am selling it as a project. It came to me as supposedly road ready with MOT, but this has proved not the case ending up with me having to do a full rewire, fit new 40mm pumper carbs, manifolds, throttle, cables etc, GPS speedo, fuel taps, regulator etc. I have been told by Muzzi Moto (the seller) that NBS are now replacing the CDI & coils due to the ever continuing running problems which forced me to return it to them, and I have also requested the gearbox is checked out as it often (but not constantly) needed a few attempts to change up gears. It will still need the forks sorting out (far too soft), and one of the P08 callipers will need checking out as it is not very effective (the other side works great). I have just lost the will to live in sorting this bike out, hence the advert.
In theory it should come back for NBS fully sorted (probably not forks & brake though) but the 7 months of disasters that required all the remedial work I had to do have finished me off. I would want £4250 MINIMUM, as it has cost me a LOT more than that. It will with some more fettling end up a nice, unique good spec bit of kit with a much higher value than my asking price. Please ring for a chat if interested and I'll explain the situation a bit better than the rambling rant above and give a full spec. It's worth a ring on 07979 734108 - evenings only please or at weekends during day. Please text if I don't answer.

That's the problem with a special they often cost more than they are worth. You have been honest about the bike's faults but with a list that long the price tag does seem a bit high. Still let's see some photos please :D

Anyone needing a photo will need to send me either a number to text it to or an email address as I don't seem to be able to download an image, or add one from the snipping tool.

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes. I have had as bad if not a worse experience with Muzzi Moto covering not months but years of aggravation. I will give you a call to share the misery. A trouble shared.......
I have decided to finish the bike myself but it will have cost me more than the 10,000 plus that Muzzi charged.
Provided the engine and gearbox are sorted and the wiring redone I would say your asking price is quite reasonable.
My sympathies, Russell

Make that 4 of us :-(
Similar story with a T3. Completely rebuilt although to be fair the gearbox and engine were sound.

As bad as my bike was it was the attitude of Muzzi that was most upsetting. Refusal to answer emails and ‘phone calls and denial of serious shortcomings in the build. Settled out of court after protracted proceedings.
They still advertise in Gambaluga. Should carry a health warning!

I have been asked to speak directly to Nigel (again) Muzzi seem to be distancing themselves from the faults, and their responsibilities.

Not sure of the link details, but I spoke to him yesterday, and he suspects a voltage regulator issue but no further forward really.

I hope this is not the end of the discussion about Muzzi Moto. I’m still traumatised by the experience I had with this company.

Maybe worth starting another "dealer experience" thread ?

The problem with that is, in my humble opinion, the Guzzi world is very small, everyone knows everyone, giving your personal opinion of your experiences with dealers is fraught with pitfalls. I have recently named and shamed someone who messed up covering a seat for me, and I intend now to remove or edit that post to remove the name. I would rather say that I will not give a positive reference rather than give one that could be seen as defamatory, slanderous or libellous. I think that is covered somewhere in the forum rules.

If you want the dirt then PM me. :?

I have an expert witness report on the condition of the bike if anyone is interested.
I don’t think the contents could be described as defamatory.
